Thank you to the 1700 volunteers who worked at 90+ different
clean up sites along 35 miles of waterways to clean a creek in 2017.

  • About 19 tons of garbage were removed from creeks throughout Sacramento County.
  • For the eighth year, water quality testing was conducted at selected sites.
  • About 150 adults and children attended our Creek Week Activities led by scientists and volunteer docents providing background and meaning for our volunteer clean-ups.
  • This was our first year that volunteers, coordinating with Hammerdirt, used NOAH procedures to categorize marine debris.  The Arcade Creek report is one of four that will be generated for Creek Week 2017.
  • Volunteers used state-of-the-art materials & methods to fill a creek trail gully & stabilize the soil.
  • Thanks to all our volunteers who worked hard to make this year's Celebration at Carmichael Park a success!   Thanks to Red Shoe Productions for entertaining us with fun games and music, and to our Sponsors' earth-friendly exhibits. Thanks to Mira Loma High School students and the members of Kiwanis and Key Clubs.
Thanks to the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce for preparing and serving lunch to all.
  • Splash Off keynote speaker Assemblymember Kevin McCarty welcomed sponsors and presented Friends of the River Banks with our Creek Steward award.

All our volunteers deserve credit for improving the health of Sacramento's creeks
